Jen Pickering started LV Pilates to help people become happier and healthier.

A woman who has recovered from a severe car accident runs a successful fitness group.

Jen Pickering is the 38-year old owner of LV Pilates, a studio that offers Pilates, a form of exercise that aims to strengthen muscles and improve flexibility.

LV Pilates creates resistance with a reformer instead of a traditional mat. Jen was rehabilitated at The Walton Centre after a severe car accident. She discovered Pilates.

It started with a spinal injury. I used to be a runner, and I did HIIT or kettlebells.

My accident left me unable to move around. My left leg had suffered significant nerve damage. “The Walton Centre recommended Pilates for me.”

Jen was initially sceptical and thought that it would be more appropriate for women who were older. Four months after her rehab, Jen had a “lightbulb” moment.

Jen said: “I was like, wow, that’s really going to help my recovery.” This changed the way I looked at exercise. Exercise doesn’t have to be fast or hard. “You can benefit from different types of exercise.”

In 2017, she began teaching Pilates as a certified personal trainer. She left her position as a support employee and embarked on a journey to teach others Pilates.

She wondered whether she made the right choice as she moved between the lockdowns from her studio in Formby into the centre of the city.

The biggest challenge was bringing my family into the city. Bills, insurance, and tax are all higher. Many times I wondered, “What am I doing?”

In the end, only a handful of clients from Formby came to visit her. Jen stated that “certainly not enough” to cover the bill. “.

Since then, business has grown. The classes are attended by people from many different backgrounds, and include men as well as young adults who may not be considered the target market for pilates.

She is convinced that her experience can help clients, especially those in similar circumstances to hers, to become healthier and happier. Every week, she sees at least thirty different nationalities of women in her studio.

It is hard to deal with people who have serious health problems because I am able to relate. For this reason, I am very concerned about my clients. said Jen.

“I would love to have a comparison video between my six-month pilates experience and now. It was bad enough that I sometimes had to walk with a stick. “I couldn’t go from lying to standing. She said.

She wants to share her experience with others who are in similar circumstances. “I don’t have these problems anymore. “I was also saved from a serious spinal injury.” She said.

Jen encourages clients to enjoy exercise. She told her clients to “Find something that you like.” “I didn’t like running when I was younger.”

Some people say they prefer the relaxation of yoga to reformers .”.”
