Matt O’Shea, councilor of the city, said that thieves targeted the Pettifords again. This time it was their second car.

Authorities confirmed that less than two weeks following a carjacking at a Beverly neighborhood home in Chicago, another vehicle had been stolen.

Matt O’Shea, a councilman from the city of Pettiford, said that thieves targeted the Pettifords again for their second car.

The police reported officers responding to an alarm of a burglary in the 9300-block of South Pleasant around 7:20 am. The vehicle was stolen, but it was found shortly afterwards in the 9700-block of South Merrill.

The location of this robbery was also the same street where, earlier in the month, the Pettifords were the victims of an incredibly heartbreaking carjacking outside of their house. All of that was caught on security cameras.

The police added that two people of interest had been questioned in relation to the first theft. In connection with the theft of the first vehicle, a 24-year-old female was arrested. She faces misdemeanor charges.

Pettiford’s family has not responded to any requests for comments on this most recent incident.

According to police, the first robbery took place around 8:45 pm on November 2 when Michelle Pettiford and her daughter (12 years old) returned home after volleyball practice. An armed couple then approached the pair.

Two people pushed Pettiford down while searching through her purse and demanding her keys. Pettiford is heard saying, “They’re inside my bag. They’re inside my bag.” His 12-year-old girl ran into the room screaming. Jeff Pettiford, her father, said, “The sound… They talk about the chills, but it’s your daughter.” I’ll never, ever forget the sound.

Jeff Pettiford ran quickly out to assist his wife. However, he said that one of the suspects had pointed a weapon at his head. He said, “There was absolutely no fear.” When they approached me, and I saw them, there was no fear. I am not small. The thought was not, “Oh no, lets get out of this.” The thought was, “Let’s go around to shoot that person.” “.

Jeff Pettiford told me he offered them money but they only wanted a vehicle. He helped them start their Audi. In the video, he can be heard telling them to “just press the button.” They didn’t understand how to turn on the vehicle. Jeff Pettiford, NBC Chicago’s reporter in Chicago at the beginning of this month said that he had shown them how to turn on the car. They then wanted the keys. I told them the location, but they wanted it anyway. It’s fabulous. “I don’t believe they understand.”

While the couple and their family were not injured physically, the trauma caused by the incident was difficult for them.
