Crows are attacking residents in Pravian by violently smashing into their cars and homes.
It looks like something from an Alfred Hitchcock film. The event in Pravia that affected Penaullan is a common theme among all those who are involved. Since three months, residents in the town are being attacked by black-plumed crows. These birds are known to crash into the windows at the home of Luis Fernandez, his wife and their children “in an insane way” every morning. They will continue doing this until they become injured and bleed. The neighbor says, “Today 17, were all grouped together in one window. If no one scares them away they will have fun like this.”
The same happens all day long to residents in the same neighborhood. The crows will attack your vehicles and properties without warning, causing damage. Fernandez recalls that a neighbor was forced to completely paint his vehicle because it was covered in scratches and pieces of missing paint.
The couple thought that the attacks were to defend their eggs and young from humans. But “the period when they are being born is over and they still crash in the same manner,” they complain. They then discover that the only reason for this behavior is to search out the food seen through their windows. “In the river plain all of the fruit trees have been covered with plantations, and there are very few trees or meadows remaining.” Those who are able to peck.
The neighbors, in search of an answer to their “surreal” experience, contacted Pravia’s city council. However, this council lacked the necessary powers, and instead, Animal Welfare technicians, based out of the Principality took on the job. The neighbors tried different ways to try and stop the birds.
Fernandez says, “First they tried cages filled with corn in order to lock them up and make them bite. Then we used large balloons as a way to scare the animals away. Now they are asking for nets that will prevent them from escaping.” David Alvarez is “astonished” by the rareness of this phenomenon. It’s strange, there must be an explanation for the violent crashes.
For the time being, there has been no progress in stopping the attack of these birds. The blood continues to pour in Pravia in the same style as Hitchcock’s The Birds. Penaullan is now Bodega Bay – the Californian city invaded by the intuitive animals the director portrayed.
