Inscriptions appear on the car and parish temple of A Coruna’s parish priest
In the Gospel of Jesus, the Pharisees’ hypocrisy is often attacked for the way they live their religion. The parish priest from Pontedeume, A Coruna received this accusation in graffiti form. On Saturday 23 September, his car was emblazoned with “Death to Pharisee”, and the church could read “Benjamin Pharisee”, referring to the name the priest.
Europa Press reports that the graffiti on the wall of the temple was removed within hours using a white paint and a product found in the car. The priest was surprised by the incident, and he seemed to have a good idea of who the culprits were, since he mentioned it the next day, during an intervention from the Civil Guard. The car had been parked at the church’s atrium, and neighbors said they did not recognize the person who could have written the graffiti.
The parishioners of Pontedeume Church gathered in the same spot during Sunday’s Mass to express their disapproval of such acts, and also to demonstrate solidarity with the Priest who had thanked them. Since five years, the parish priest is in charge of 12 surrounding communities and lives within the Cabanas municipality.
