The baby was found in the car, dead. She had been ‘forgotten” outside of a high-school. A witness broke the window in order to reach the child.
A police investigation was launched following the discovery of a 16-month old dead child outside Bishop England High School, South Carolina. The police were called to the scene just before 4:00 pm on Friday, August 25, and rushed there. The baby is thought to have been locked inside the vehicle for six hours.
According to reports, the witness who was passing by the car on the parking lot saw the child and broke the glass to reach her. According to the coroner, there are no suspects and that “this was a tragic accident.”
According to the Coroner’s Office, it is believed that the child was left in the vehicle from 7.30am onwards until the phone call arrived. CBS12 reports that the child was left in the car.
Berkeley County EMS pronounced child dead on the spot. A football match between First Baptist School and another school in the area has been cancelled.
According to Charleston Police Department, this is an ongoing investigation.
The death of this baby comes just days after that of another who died in a car while the temperature was 36C.
